Development Specialist (Fundraising Coordinator) Description: Organize activities to raise funds or otherwise solicit and gather monetary donations or other gifts for an organization. May design and produce promotional materials. May also raise awareness of the organization’s work, goals, and financial needs.
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree. Minimum 2 years of experience in outreach and fundraising in the nonprofit sector preferred. Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and utilizing electronic records systems. Excellent typing, proofreading, and filing skills. High level of accuracy and excellent attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong initiative and independence in carrying out responsibilities. Ability to promptly meet deadlines. Excellent time management skills: the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize. Required attendance at events as necessary in support of the Focus on Youth’s mission, which may include some nights and weekends. Consistency, accuracy in work delivery, ability to multi-task and prioritize, trauma-sensitivity, friendliness, flexibility, and hospitable attitude of customer service to clients (children and families), foster parents and staff are essential.
Must complete required background checks including BCI/FBI with no record of forbidden offenses listed in OAC 5101:2-5-09. As part of the BCI/FBI background checks necessary for employment, in compliance with new policies from the Ohio Department of Children & Youth, all employees, new hires, and interns will have background checks conducted specifically searching for charges of domestic abuse. If there are any charges of domestic abuse or new charges that occur during time of employment, the employee is subject to denial of employment in the case of prospective new hires or interns and termination of employment for hired staff members, whether employees, contractors, or interns.
Hours: Part-Time 20-25 hours per week
Salary Range: $22-25 per hour
Tasks may include:
- Create and foster a culture of philanthropy with parents, alums, community members, and volunteers by providing opportunities to financially support Focus on Youth. This includes but is not limited to managing Focus on Youth’s Annual Gala and Silent Auction, End of Year Giving, Annual 5K, sponsorships and grant opportunities, and other fundraising opportunities.
- Actively fundraise to support the mission including asks to major individual donors, foundations, government entities, and corporations
- Assists with initiatives to increase peer-to-peer fundraising support to meet fundraising goals and widen our network of supporters.
- Manages an organized, efficient, and effective filing system so historic giving and engagement information can be leveraged for cultivation and relationship building purposes.
- Enters gift and constituent data into a donor database, assuring all data entry is timely and accurate.
- Manages and issues gift acknowledgments and stewardship to donors.
