Several of our clinicians are Certified Trauma Practitioners (certified through the National Institute of Trauma and Loss, using the SITCAP approach) who seek to support healing for children and families who have suffered trauma. These Certified Trauma Practitioners use Trauma Informed Care to minimize the effects of trauma while understanding the impact trauma has on a child’s development. Because trauma affects the mind and body, this method uses a mind-body approach to healing. Its core principals include:

  • Promoting safety
  • Ensuring cultural competence
  • Supporting consumer control
  • Choice
  • Autonomy
  • Integrating care
  • Understanding recovery is possible

Trauma Informed Care has proven extremely effective, and our Certified Trauma Practitioners have helped many children and families recover from traumatic experiences.
