Pre-placement training is the first step to becoming a licensed foster/adoptive parent. Each session is held in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. The sessions are designed to help you make an informed decision about whether fostering and/or adopting is right for you.
This course, part of the Preservice training series, introduces the concepts of diversity competence and cultural humility, disproportionality, and disparity. Learners will explore ways to help children entering their care develop a sense of belonging. Learners will also explore their own implicit bias and think about how they can confront their bias when working with youth placed in their care.
