Do you love to learn by reading a book? Are you interested in diving into a trauma informed book with fellow foster parents? We have a great opportunity for you. Join our FOY Virtual Book Club!
We will be spending 3 months diving into “The Connected Parent” by Karyn B. Purvis and Lisa Qualls. “You will learn how to effectively use simple scripts, nurture your child, combat fear, teach respect, and develop other valuable tools to facilitate a healing connection with your child.” This book is a follow up to the highly recommended book, “The Connected Child” however it is not required that you read that book first. We believe this is a resource that you want on your bookshelf so each participant will be responsible for purchasing the book or e-book in order to participate.
We will offer three, one hour webinars, to discuss what we’ve learned and how we can apply it to our parenting. The discussion webinars will take place from 12:00pm-1:00pm on Monday, October 26th, Monday November 30th, and Monday December 28th (registering for the first meeting will register you for all three dates). Before signing up, please check those dates as you must attend all three webinars in order to get training credit. Participants will also be expected to answer discussion questions in order to prove reading time occurred.
