Focus on Youth, Inc. is seeking qualified applicants for the following positions:

Administrative Assistant – Full-time                   

The Administrative Assistant works closely with staff and clients. The ideal candidate will be able to maintain a professional and welcoming environment in the reception area. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. The ideal candidate will also be/have:
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and use of electronic health records systems.
  • Experience with health records and/or medical billing is preferred.
  • Excellent typing, proofreading, and filing skills.
  • Knowledge of office machines and basic clerical duties.
  • Well organized, with consistency, accuracy in work delivery, ability to multi-task and prioritize, trauma-sensitivity, friendliness, flexibility, and hospitable attitude of customer service to clients (children and families), foster parents and staff.
  • Knowledge of basic clerical duties.
  • Must complete required background checks including BCI/FBI with no record of forbidden offenses listed in OAC 5101:2-5-09.

Salary Range: $15.50 – $17.00 per hour

Tasks may include:

  • Manage the front desk clerical responsibilities including answering phones, directing calls to appropriate personnel, greeting and checking-in of clients, staff, and visitors, and managing emails.
  • Data entry in EHR, Excel, and Microsoft Word, including writing and editing documents.
  • Maintain a trauma-sensitive atmosphere/environment for guests.
  • Upkeep of office to ensure that the space remains safe and inviting.
  • Assist Administrative and Behavioral Health staff in various clerical duties.
  • Prepare communications such as memos, emails, invoices, reports and others.
  • Check client insurance eligibility and enter clients into state systems as appropriate.
  • Support the Behavioral Department with data entry and outcomes-related tasks.
  • Support and attendance for agency organized events as required such as family and youth events, conferences, and fundraisers.
  • This job requires the physical functions of sitting, walking, lifting, inputting data electronically, driving, transporting clients and the possible use of emergency safety physical interventions to maintain the safety of the children served.

Wendy’s Wonderful Kids® Recruiter – Full-time                   

The Wendy’s Wonderful Kids® Recruiter (WWK-R) works closely with youth to identify existing relationships that are potential future adoptive placements. Qualifications include High School Diploma; must also possess at two (2) years of experience working with families and/or children in the child welfare system or possess an Associate degree in social work, human services, behavioral health or a related field. Relevant experience in child welfare including knowledge of issues surrounding foster care, adoption, trauma, medical and developmental needs and the importance of legal permanency are recommended as well as familiarity with state child welfare rules and procedures and the juvenile and/or probate court systems. Must complete required background checks including BCI/FBI with no record of forbidden offenses listed in OAC 5101:2-5-09. Additionally, applicants with more than 2 points on their driving license will be disqualified.

Salary Range: Starting at $18.50 per hour

Tasks may include:

  • Review case records, identify and interview the youth, caseworker, other agency staff with knowledge of the case and any available family members and/or other supportive connections to assist in the recruitment process.
  • Utilize internet search tools to identify and locate resources within the youth’s network.
  • Develop an initial written adoption readiness assessment describing the youth’s understanding and feelings about adoption.
  • Create child-focused recruitment plans for the youth.
  • Meet with the youth on a monthly basis.
  • Communicate with the caseworker on a monthly basis to review the progress of the recruitment plan.
  • Assist with the development and coordination of the transition plan with the youth and matched family. Work with the youth and family during the transition process to assist with placement support.
  • Submit monthly data in the WWK database.
  • Facilitate permanency and family connections.

Youth and Family Therapist – Full-time OR Part-time                 

The Youth and Family Therapist will have a Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling. Must be licensed to practice Social Work or Counseling in the State of Ohio. One year of experience working specifically with youth in a foster care setting is preferred, as well as trauma-informed care knowledge and skills. Counseling experience with victims and perpetrators desired. The Youth and Family Therapist will have experience with groups, individual and/or family therapy and will be skilled in making appropriate assessments. Will train in Play Therapy. Must complete required background checks including BCII / FBI with no record of forbidden offenses listed in OAC 5101:2-5-09. This is a full-time position.

Full-Time Salary Range: $41,600.00 – $52,000.00 yearly

Tasks may include:

  • Provide individual, group and family therapy as needed and directed.
  • Write assessments for diagnostic purposes, for use in court proceedings, or as requested by a referring agency.
  • Be available for case consultation with staff and caregivers.
  • Provide testimony in court when appropriate.
  • Maintain progress notes, service plans, and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain training hours as required for professional licensing in compliance with the Ohio CSWMFT Board, OAC, and COA standards.

Behavioral Health Volunteer                                 

The Behavioral Health (BH) Volunteer, having direct care of children, must submit to local, state and national crime checks and other background checks as requested, including BMV.  The BH Volunteer must also complete required background checks including BCII / FBI with no record of forbidden offenses listed in OAC 5101:2-5-09.  Volunteers for events/activities where they will be supervised by Focus staff and not involving the care or supervision of youth are not required to do background checks.

Tasks may include:

  • Engage with clients in the waiting room to help them feel valued and safe.
  • Call clients for appointment reminders, document requests, or general purpose calls.
  • Copy, scan, and assist with data entry with hard copy and electronic filing.
  • Score outcome forms.
  • Inventory needed supplies, with ordering or shopping of approved supply list.
  • Organize and sanitize play therapy materials.
