This 3-hour training is presented from the specialized perspective of providing clinical services to youth with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders with Michael Fox, M.A., LPCC-S, LCDC III.
Broadly, this training aspires to increase clinical recognition for the high prevalence of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders in youth. It is also intended to initiate/reinforce increased considerations regarding the importance of conducting regular screenings and performing developmentally appropriate assessments. Components of these broader goals include: prevalence of mental health and substance use disorders in addition to trauma and victimization for youth; developmental considerations regarding approaches to screening, assessment and diagnostic understanding; and exploration of specific tools for both screening and assessing youth.
