Caregiver Training

This course is recommended for all Focus on Youth foster parents. The primary purpose of this training course is to educate caregivers in identifying signs and symptoms of illness and contagious conditions, protect themselves from exposure, learn how to respond to an exposure risk, and how to transfer their knowledge to educate family and children in the home. The course content and activities will prepare caregivers to make appropriate decisions about preventing and educating on communicable disease transmission. This support group is designed for Focus on Youth foster parent to connect and support one another.

This workshop will present information on the current ODJFS rules, the overview of the MEPA rules and applications, and Focus on Youth, Inc. Foster Parent Policies and MEPA Standards as it impacts policy.

This workshop will is an introduction to trauma competent care and explores how trauma might effect the development of a child.

This workshop will allow for participants to become certified in Infant, Child, and Adult CPR and First Aid. The certification is provided by American Red Cross. Meets Required Topic: CPR & First Aid

This workshop will provide participants with a greater understanding of the concept of normalcy, agency expectations, and the responsibilities of their role as a foster parent. Meets Required Topic: Elective

“Beyond the Birds and Bees” is a two-hour training that focuses on increasing skills around being an “askable adult.” Meets Required Topic: Trauma, Child Development, or Elective

This workshop is designed to teach participants about the issues and skills needed to prepare children for independent living.
